Map Free-Text Allergies and Medications

When allergies and medications are entered into NewCrop, they are checked against a drug database. Most of the time, the system will codify allergies and medications automatically. However, if the system is unable to find a code match in the database, allergies and medications need to be mapped manually. Mapping is important, because free-text medications and allergies are not recognized in system checks for reactions and interactions during the prescribing process.

Map a Free-Text Allergy

Free-text allergies that require mapping will display with a highlighted notification that says "free-text allergy". Free-text allergies can be mapped from the Compose Rx tab, Med Entry tab or the Problems tab.

1. Click the Allergy Name in the Allergies list from the Med Entry or Compose Rx tab, or click the Map button for the allergy from the Problems tab.  
   • From the Med Entry or Compose Rx tab:

2. Select the appropriate Allergy from the list in the Search Allergies window.
3. Click the Save Allergy button. 
   
   
   
4. The allergy displays without the free-text allergy notification.

Map a Free-Text Medication

Free-text medications that require mapping will display with a highlighted notification that says "Inc Drug Description". Free-text medications can be mapped from the Med Entry tab or the Compose Rx tab.

1. Click the Map button for the medication in the Active Medications list from either the Med Entry tab or the Compose Rx tab.  
   
2. Select the appropriate Drug and Formulation in the Search Results box. 
   
   
   
3. The Medication displays in the Active Medications list without the Inc Drug Description notification.
